1Paul and Silvanus and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: 2Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 3We ought to thank God always concerning you, brothers, just as it is fitting, because your faith is increasing exceedingly, and the love of each one of you all to one another is abounding, 4so as for us ourselves to boast in you in the churches of God about your endurance and faith in all your persecutions, and in the tribulations that you are bearing. 5This is a plain token of the righteous judgment of God, for you to be accounted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which also you suffer. 6For indeed it is righteous with God to repay those oppressing you with affliction, 7and to you being oppressed, repose with us at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven, with His mighty angels, 8in a fire of flame, inflicting vengeance on those not knowing God and on those not obeying the gospel of our Lord Jesus, 9who will suffer the penalty of eternal destruction away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, 10when in that day He shall come to be glorified in His saints, and to be marveled at among all those having believed because our testimony to you was believed, 11for which also we pray always for you, that He may count you worthy of the calling of our God, and He may fulfill every good pleasure of goodness and work of faith with power, 12so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and of the Lord Jesus Christ. 2Now we implore you, brothers, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together unto Him, 2for you not quickly to be shaken in mind, nor to be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as if by us, as that day of the Lord is present. 3No one should deceive you in any way, because it is not until the apostasy shall have come first, and the man of lawlessness shall have been revealed--the son of destruction, 4the one opposing and exalting himself above every so-called god or object of worship--so as for him to sit down in the temple of God, setting forth that he himself is God. 5Do you not remember that, being yet with you, I was saying these things to you? 6And now you know that which is restraining for his being revealed in his time. 7For the mystery of lawlessness is working already; there is only the one at present restraining it, until he might be gone out of the midst. 8And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will consume with the breath of His mouth and will annul by the appearing of His coming, 9whose coming is according to the working of Satan, in every power, and in signs, and in wonders of falsehood, 10and in every deception of wickedness unto those perishing, in return for which they did not receive the love of the truth in order for them to be saved. 11And because of this, God will send to them a working of delusion, for them to believe what is false, 12in order that all those not having believed the truth but having delighted in unrighteousness should be judged. 13But we ought to give thanks to God always concerning you, brothers beloved by the Lord, that God has chosen you from the beginning unto salvation in the sanctification of the Spirit, and by faith of the truth; 14to this also He called you through our gospel to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15So then, brothers, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught, whether by word, or by letter from us. 16Now our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God our Father, the One having loved us and having given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace, 17may He encourage your hearts and may He strengthen them in every good work and word. 3Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may spread quickly and may be glorified, just as also with you, 2and that we may be delivered from perverse and evil men; for not all are of the faith. 3But the Lord is faithful, who will strengthen you and will keep you from evil. 4And we are persuaded in the Lord as to you, that both you are doing and you will do the things that we command. 5And may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ. 6Now we warn you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, you are to withdraw from every brother walking idly and not according to the tradition that you received from us. 7For you yourselves know how it behooves you to imitate us, because we were not idle among you, 8nor did we eat bread from anyone without payment, but in labor and toil, working night and day in order not to be burdensome to any of you, 9not that we do not have the right, but that we may offer ourselves as an example to you for you to imitate us. 10For even when we were with you, we were commanding you this, that "if anyone is not willing to work, neither let him eat." 11For we hear some among you are walking idly, not working at all, but being busybodies. 12Now we command and exhort to such by our Lord Jesus Christ so that, working with quietness, they may eat their own bread. 13Now you, brothers, shall not grow weary in well-doing. 14And if anyone does not obey our instruction through the letter, take note of this man, not to mix with him, so that he may be ashamed. 15And yet do not esteem him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. 16Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace through all, in every way. The Lord be with all of you. 17The greeting is in my own hand--Paul, which is my sign in every letter. In this manner I write. 18The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all of you.
