Readers’ Version

Literal Version

For the musical director: a song by David.

65Our praise is ready for you, God in Tsiyyon (Zion).

We’ve fulfilled our vows.

2You hear prayers.

≈ Everyone goes to you.

3Our sinful deeds hold us back,

but you forgive our disobedience.

4Anyone you choose to bring near to you is honoured,

≈ then they can live in your courtyards.

We’ll be satisfied with the goodness of your house

≈ your holy temple.

5God of our salvation, answer us

by awesome acts of justice—

yes, you who are hope of all this entire region,

as well as the hope of those who are far across the sea.

6You created the mountains with your power.

You have plenty of strength.

7You calm the roaring oceans—

the roaring of their waves

and the turmoil of the nations.

8Those who live all around the world

are amazed by the evidence of your activities.

You make them happy from the east to the west.

9You look after the world and water it.

You greatly enrich it.

God’s river is full of water.

You’ve prepared the earth to produce grain.

10You generously water its ploughed furrows

your rain flattens down the ridges between them.

You make the soil soft with rain showers

then you bless what grows there.

11You crown the yearly harvest with your bounty,

and your farm-wagons overflow with plenty.

12The pastures in the wilderness drip with dew,

and the hills are cloaked with gladness.

13The pastures are blanketed with sheep and goats.

≈ The valleys also are covered over with grain;

They shout with gladness and sing.
