TSNTyndale Study Notes:

3:17-25 In a reversal of fortune, the affluent and proud people of Jerusalem would suffer disgrace. Some of their ornaments (3:18) likely were amulets to keep evil away, but they could not ward off the calamity of judgment. These items of beauty were status symbols and represented financial security.

(Occurrence 0) sash

(Some words not found in UHB: and=it_was instead_of perfume stench will_belong and,instead_of sash rope and,instead_of work well_dressed baldness and,instead_of rich_robe binding sackcloth that/for/because/then/when instead_of beauty )

a piece of cloth that people wear around the waist or across the chest. See how you translated this in Isaiah 3:20.

This may refer to a rope that enemies would tie on the people of Judah when they captured them. Or it might mean that Jerusalem’s women would have nothing to wear but rough clothing secured with ropes.

(Occurrence 0) well-arranged hair, baldness
