Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / simile

(Occurrence 0) as thick as a cloud of locusts

(Some words not found in UHB: and,Midianites and,Amalekites and=all sons_of east lying in/on/at/with,valley like_the,locusts to=increase_in_number and,to,camels,their not number as_~_as_the,sand that,on language_of the=sea to=increase_in_number )

Here “cloud” means a swarm. The author speaks of the army as if it were a swarm of locusts to emphasize how many soldiers there were.

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / hyperbole

(Occurrence 0) Their camels were more … in number than the grains of the sand on the seashore

(Some words not found in UHB: and,Midianites and,Amalekites and=all sons_of east lying in/on/at/with,valley like_the,locusts to=increase_in_number and,to,camels,their not number as_~_as_the,sand that,on language_of the=sea to=increase_in_number )

The author uses a hyperbole, an exaggeration, to emphasize that there were very many camels.

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

(Occurrence 0) Their camels were more than could be counted

(Some words not found in UHB: and,Midianites and,Amalekites and=all sons_of east lying in/on/at/with,valley like_the,locusts to=increase_in_number and,to,camels,their not number as_~_as_the,sand that,on language_of the=sea to=increase_in_number )

If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: “Their camels were more than anyone could count”
