ULT You will say to them, ‘Yahweh of hosts says this: I will do this same thing to this people and this city just as Jeremiah shattered the clay flask so that it could not be repaired again. People will bury the dead in Topheth until there is no place left for any more dead.

UST Then say to them, ‘This is what Yahweh, commander of the angel armies, says: Just like this jar has been smashed and cannot be repaired, I will smash this city of Jerusalem and other places in Judah. You will bury some of your corpses here in this dump, until there is no more space to bury any more corpses.

BSB and you are to proclaim to them that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: I will shatter this nation and this city, like one shatters a potter’s jar that can never again be repaired. They will bury the dead in Topheth until there is no more room to bury them.

OEB and thou shalt say to them, Thus saith Jehovah of Hosts: This is how I will shatter this people and this city, just as a potter’s jar is shattered beyond all possibility of repair; and Topheth shall be used as a burying-place for want of room (elsewhere).

WEB and shall tell them, ‘Yahweh of Armies says: “Even so I will break this people and this city as one breaks a potter’s vessel, that can’t be made whole again. They will bury in Topheth until there is no place to bury.

WMB and shall tell them, ‘The LORD of Hosts says: “Even so I will break this people and this city as one breaks a potter’s vessel, that can’t be made whole again. They will bury in Topheth until there is no place to bury.

NET Tell them the Lord who rules over all says, ‘I will do just as Jeremiah has done. I will smash this nation and this city as though it were a potter’s vessel which is broken beyond repair. The dead will be buried here in Topheth until there is no more room to bury them.’

LSV and have said to them, Thus said YHWH of Hosts: Thus I break this people and this city, as one breaks the potter’s vessel, that is not able to be repaired again, and in Tophet they bury—without place to bury;

FBV Tell them: this is what the Lord Almighty says: I'm going to smash this nation and this city, just like a clay jar is smashed so it can't ever be repaired. People will bury their dead in Topheth until it's full.

T4T Then say to them, ‘This is what the Commander of the armies of angels says: “Just like this jar has been smashed and cannot be repaired, I will smash this city of Jerusalem and other places in Judah. You will bury some of your corpses here in this dump, until there is no more space to bury any more corpses.

LEB And you shall say to them, ‘Thus says Yahweh of hosts: “So I will break this people and this city as one breaks the vessel of the potter, so that it is not able to be repaired again. And in Topheth they will bury until there is no room to bury.

BBE And say to them, This is what the Lord of armies has said: Even so will this people and this town be broken by me, as a potter's bottle is broken and may not be put together again: and the bodies of the dead will be put in the earth in Topheth, till there is no more room.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

(Occurrence 0) Yahweh of hosts says this

(Some words not found in UHB: and,say to,them thus he/it_had_said YHWH armies/angels so break DOM the,people the=this and=DOM the=city the,this just=as breaks DOM vessel the,potter's which/who not he/it_would_be_able to,repaired again/more and,in/on/at/with,Topheth bury until,there_is_no place to,bury )

Jeremiah often uses these words to introduce an important message from Yahweh. See how you translated this in Jeremiah 6:6.

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

(Occurrence 0) it could not be repaired again

(Some words not found in UHB: and,say to,them thus he/it_had_said YHWH armies/angels so break DOM the,people the=this and=DOM the=city the,this just=as breaks DOM vessel the,potter's which/who not he/it_would_be_able to,repaired again/more and,in/on/at/with,Topheth bury until,there_is_no place to,bury )

If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: “no one can repair it again”
