MSG(1-2)So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

12.2 Nolite conformari. Generalis prohibitio. Sed reformamini. Regularis jussio. Ibi continentia, hic justitia. TSNTyndale Study Notes:

12:2 this world (literally this age): The division of history into two ages was typical of the Jewish worldview. Early Christians adapted this point of view, identifying the coming of Christ as the time when the new age of salvation began. Unexpectedly, however, the new age did not bring an end to the old age. The old way of thinking and living continues, and it is a source of temptation even to Christians who seek to conform their lives to the values of the new age.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: “do not conform yourselves … let God transform you”

μὴ συνσχηματίζεσθε

Alternate translation: “do not become alike”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

τῷ αἰῶνι τούτῳ

¬the ˱to˲_age this

If your language does not use abstract nouns for the ideas of renewal and will, you could express the same ideas in another way. Alternate translation: “by renewing the mind … the good and well-pleasing and perfect thing that God wills”

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

τῇ ἀνακαινώσει τοῦ νοός

˱by˲_the renewal ˱of˲_the mind
