A Canaanite Woman’s Great Faith

21 And departing from there, Jesus went away to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22 And behold, a Canaanite woman from that district came and cried out, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely possessed by a demon!” 23 But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came up and[fn] asked him, saying, “Send her away, because she is crying out after us!” 24 But he answered and[fn] said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” 25 But she came and[fn] knelt down before him, saying, “Lord, help me!” 26 And he answered and[fn] said, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it[fn] to the dogs!” 27 So she said, “Yes, Lord, for even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.” 28 Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, your faith is great! Let it be done for you as you want.” And her daughter was healed from that hour.
