This is still a very early look into the unfinished text of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check the text in advance before using in public.
15 Now brothers and sisters, I want to remind you all about the good message that I preached to you, which you then received and now base your faith on. 2 You’re all saved by that good message if you hold firmly to what I preached to you, assuming that you didn’t just ‘say that’ you believe.
3 Yes, first of all, I passed onto you all what I myself had received: that Messiah died for our sins as the scriptures had predicted,[ref] 4 and that he was buried and then brought back to life on the third day as per the scriptures again,[ref] 5 and that he was seen by Cephas and then by the twelve.[ref] 6 Then he was seen by more than 500 believers at once—most of whom are still living, although some have already passed away. 7 Then he was seen by Yacob, and then by all the ambassadors.
8 Then last of all, as if I’d been born at the wrong time, he appeared to me also,[ref] 9 because I’m the least of the ambassadors—quite unworthy of that title because I persecuted God’s assembly.[ref] 10 But I am what I am thanks to God’s grace, as his grace towards me hasn’t been wasted. Actually, I worked harder than all the others, although of course it wasn’t really me, but God’s grace with me. 11 Anyway, whether it was me or them, we all preach that same good message, and that’s how you all came to belief.
Isa 53:5-12:
5 But he was pierced for our disobedience,
≈ and crushed for our wicked actions.
The punishment that gave us peace was on him,
≈ and we were healed thanks to his wounds.[ref]
6 We’ve all strayed away like sheep—
≈ everyone’s gone in their own direction
and Yahweh has placed all our disobedience onto him.[ref]
7 He was oppressed and tormented
but like a lamb being led away to be slaughtered, he didn’t open his mouth,
≈ and like a sheep that’s silent in front of its shearers, he didn’t open his mouth.[ref]
8 After oppression and judgement, he was taken away,
but how many of his peers even cared that he was cut off from the land of the living?
He was wounded because of the disobedience of my people.
9 His burial place was among the criminals,
and a rich man at his death,
although he’d committed no violent acts,
and had never spoken deceitfully.[ref]
10 But Yahweh desired to crush him—
he made him sick if it would make his life a guilt-offering.
He will live long and see offspring,
and Yahweh’ plans will prosper through his work.
11 Due to his internal anguish, he’ll be able to see.
He’ll be satisfied with his knowledge.
My obedient servant will justify many,
and he will carry their disobedience.
12 Because of that, I’ll allocate a portion for him.
He’ll divide out the plunder to a powerful people
because he poured out his life resulting in his death.
He was included with the wicked,
and he bore the disobedience of many people,
and he intervened on behalf of the disobedient.[ref]
Psa 16:8-10:
8 I made a decision to always keep Yahweh on my mind.
Nothing will worry me, because he’s right here beside me
9 so I can relax and be happy,
Also I can live in safety
10 because you won’t abandon my soul to Sheol.[ref]
You wouldn’t permit your faithful follower to see the pit.
Mat 12:40:
40 [ref]Because just like Yonah was in the belly of the huge fish for three days and three nights, in the same way humanity’s child will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Acts 2:24-32:
24 [ref]But God released him from the agonies of death and brought him back to life—death couldn’t restrain him. 25 [ref]As David wrote,
‘I foresaw Yahweh always being in front of me. I refuse to be afraid because he’s there on my right.
26 Because of that, I was happy and spoke out my praises. My whole body lives in anticipation 27 because you’ll never abandon my soul in Hades, nor will you allow the godly one to decay. 28 You showed me the roads to life. You fill me with gladness because of your presence.’
29 “Fellow Israelis, we can tell you all with confidence that our patriarch David both died and was buried, and his tomb is still here with us today. 30 [ref]So because he was a prophet, and knowing that God has promised him to seat one of his descendants on his throne, 31 he was foretelling the resurrection of the messiah who was neither ‘abandoned in Hades nor did his body decay.’ 32 Then God raised this Yeshua back to life and we’re all witnesses of that.
Luk 24:34:
34 saying, “The master really has come back to life—he was seen by Simon Peter!”
Mat 28:16-17:
16 [ref]The eleven apprentices travelled up to Galilee to the hill that Yeshua had previously told them to go to, 17 and when they saw him there, they immediately bowed down to the ground, even though their minds weren’t sure that it was really him.
Mrk 16:14:
14 Later again when the eleven apprentices were sitting around eating, Yeshua appeared in the room and scolded them for not believing and for being so stubborn when they hadn’t believed others who had told them that he’d come back from the dead.
Luk 24:36:
36 As they were still talking about these things, Yeshua himself suddenly was there standing in the room and greeted them, “Peace to you all.”
Yhn 20:19:
19 On Sunday evening Yeshua’s apprentices had met together and had the doors locked because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, but Yeshua arrived and stood in the middle of the room and said, “Peace to you all.”
Acts 9:3-6:
3 On his journey as he approached Damascus, suddenly light from the sky flashed around him. 4 He dropped to his knees[fn] and heard a voice calling, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”
5 “Who are you, master?” he asked.
And the voice replied, “I’m Yeshua, the one that you’re persecuting. 6 Now, stand up and go into the city, and you’ll be told there what you need to do.”
9:4 It seems most likely that Paul and company were walking to Damascus (and not on horseback despite paintings by Caravaggio and others). The journey of somewhere around 300km would have taken around two weeks.
Acts 8:3:
3 [ref]As for Saul, he started on destroying the assembly by entering people’s homes and dragging both men and women out and then off to prison.
