BrTrThe Lord also is pleased to purge him from his stroke. If ye can give an offering for sin, your soul shall see a long-lived seed:

ULT  ⇔ But Yahweh was pleased to bruise him, put him to grief.
 ⇔ If he makes his life an offering for sin,
 ⇔ he will see his seed, prolong his days,
 ⇔ and the purpose of Yahweh will succeed in his hand,

USTBut it will be Yahweh’s will that he be afflicted and caused to suffer. When he dies as an offering for your own sin,
 ⇔ he will benefit many, many people, as if they were his children;
 ⇔ he will live a long time after he dies and becomes alive again,
 ⇔ and he will accomplish everything that Yahweh has planned.

BSB Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush Him
 ⇔  and to cause Him to suffer;
 ⇔  and when His soul is made a guilt offering,[fn]
 ⇔  He will see [His] offspring, He will prolong His days,
 ⇔  and the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand.

53:10 Or and though He makes His life a guilt offering

MSB Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush Him
 ⇔  and to cause Him to suffer;
 ⇔  and when His soul is made a guilt offering,[fn]
 ⇔  He will see [His] offspring, He will prolong His days,
 ⇔  and the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand.

53:10 Or and though He makes His life a guilt offering

OEB’Twas the will of the Lord that crushed him with pain;
 ⇔ but by yielding himself as an offering for sin,
 ⇔ he will yet see an offspring, his days will be long,
 ⇔ and the purpose of God will through him be triumphant.

WEBBE  ⇔ Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him.
 ⇔ He has caused him to suffer.
 ⇔ When you make his soul an offering for sin,
 ⇔ he will see his offspring.
 ⇔ He will prolong his days
 ⇔ and the LORD’s pleasure will prosper in his hand.

WMBB (Same as above)

NETThough the Lord desired to crush him and make him ill,
 ⇔ once restitution is made,
 ⇔ he will see descendants and enjoy long life,
 ⇔ and the Lord’s purpose will be accomplished through him.

LSVAnd YHWH has delighted to crush Him,
He has made Him sick; If His soul makes an offering for guilt,
He sees [His] seed—He prolongs [His] days,
And the pleasure of YHWH prospers in His hand.

FBVHowever, it was the Lord's will for him to be crushed and to suffer, for when he gives his life as a guilt offering he will see his descendants,[fn] he will have a long life, and what the Lord wants will be achieved through him.

53:10 “Descendants”: literally, “seed,” or better, “posterity.” This is to be taken in the wider view of the many who become “children of God.”

T4T  ⇔ But it will be Yahweh’s will that he be afflicted and caused to suffer.
 ⇔ And when he dies, Yahweh will cause him to be an offering to remove the guilt of sinners.
 ⇔ But later he will have many spiritual children,
 ⇔ and he will live a long time/forever► after he dies and becomes alive again,
 ⇔ and he [MTY] will accomplish everything that Yahweh has planned.

TSNTyndale Study Notes:

53:10 The servant’s grief would accomplish a greater good; the forgiveness and reconciliation of sinful humanity. Note also God’s good plan to prosper and exalt the servant.
• when his life is made an offering for sin: The suffering of the servant provided a substitute for others, just as the animal sacrifices in the Temple did.
• Having many descendants and enjoying a long life are rewards for godly and wise living (see Prov 3:2; 17:6; 20:7). Because the servant left his fate in his God’s hands, he would receive eternal rewards from the God who vindicates the righteous (see Phil 2:9-11).
