TSNTyndale Study Notes:

Ps 118 With an exultant testimony, the psalmist gives thanks for the Lord’s goodness and encourages others to trust in his faithful love (118:1-4, 29). This poem is the last of the Egyptian Hallel (Pss 113–118).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / rquestion

what can man do to me?

(Some words not found in UHB: YHWH to=me not fear what? do to=me humankind )

The writer asks this rhetorical question to emphasize that there is nothing that man can do to hurt him since Yahweh is with him. If your readers would misunderstand this question, you can express it as a statement. Alternate translation: “people cannot do anything to harm me.”
