56:9 The judging of teachers of Yisrael

9 All you animals in the countryside, come to devour,

≈ yes, all you animals in the forest.

10 All of its watchmen are blind—they don’t know what’s going on.

They’re all voiceless dogs, unable to bark.

They dream about lying down—enjoying a nap.

11 The dogs have a fierce appetite—they’re never full.

The shepherds know nothing and don’t understand.

They’ve all gone their own way and make money from their illegal sidelines.

12 Come on, take some wine and let’s drink strong drink.

Tomorrow will be just like today except we’ll have even more.
