Predicting an honest government

This is still a very early look into the unfinished text of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check the text in advance before using in public.

Readers’ Version

Literal Version

32:1 Predicting an honest government

32Listen, a king will reign with fairness,

≈ and officials will rule with justice.

2Each of them will be like a hiding place from the wind

and a shelter in a rainstorm.

They’ll be like streams in the desert,

and like the shade from a large rock in an arid land.

3Then won’t the eyes of those who see, look,

≈ and the ears of those who hear, pay attention?

4Then the heart of the hasty will understand knowledge,

and the tongue of stutterers will speak fluently and clearly.

5The fool won’t be called ‘noble’ any more,

and scoundrels will no longer be respected,

6because the fool speaks foolishness

and his heart plans disobedience for doing ungodly things

and by speaking error about Yahweh.

He keeps those empty who have a hungry appetite,

and he deprives those who are thirsty.

7As for the scoundrel, evil is his weapon.

He plans to ruin those already suffering with false stories,

and speaks against justice for the needy.

8In contrast, the honourable person plans to do honourable things,

and they will stand on those noble deeds.
