Salvation for others

This is still a very early look into the unfinished text of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check the text in advance before using in public.

Readers’ Version

Literal Version

56:1 Salvation for others

56Yahweh says this:

Promote justice and do what is right

because the time when I’ll save you is coming soon,

and my righteousness will be revealed.

2Everyone who does that will be blessed,

and humanity’s child who takes hold of it,

who observes the rest day—not defiling it,

and who stays away from doing anything evil.

3Don’t let the son of any foreigner who’s decided to follow Yahweh,

say, ‘Yahweh will certainly separate me out from his people.’

And don’t let the castrated slave say, ‘Look, I’m a withered-up tree,’

4because Yahweh says this:

To the castrated slaves who observe my rest days

and choose what pleases me and are faithful to my agreement,

5I will give them a monument and a good name in my house and inside my walls

that’s better than sons and daughters.

I’ll give them a permanent good reputation which won’t be terminated.

6Then the children of foreigners who strive to follow Yahweh,

to serve him and to love his name, and to be his servants,

who observe the rest day without defiling it,

and who cling to my agreement,

7I’ll bring them to my sacred mountain[ref]

and make them happy in my temple where people pray.

Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be acceptable on my altar,

because my temple will be called a prayer house for all the nations.

8My master Yahweh, who gathers Yisrael’s outcasts, says this:

I’ll gather others beside those already gathered.
