OET (OET-RV) Because of this, the leaders became determined that he must be put to death—not just because he broke the rules for the rest day, but most of all because he was calling God his own father, thus making himself equal to God!

UST As a consequence of him saying this, the Jewish leaders were trying to kill Jesus even more than they had tried before. They wanted to kill him because he was not only disobeying their rules for the day for rest but also because he was claiming that he was equal with God by saying that God was his own Father.
