ULT So I will punish Bel in Babylon; I will bring out from his mouth what he swallowed,

FBV I will punish Bel[fn] in Babylon. I will force him to spit out what he swallowed. People of other nations won't run to worship him anymore. Even Babylon's wall has fallen.

51:44 The defeat of its chief deity, Bel, was the ultimate disaster for Babylon. This idol’s lavish adornments would be taken away, and its supposed power would be exposed as a monumental fraud.
