Song 114/Praising God’s past miracles

Psa 114:1–8

114When Yisrael (Israel) left Egypt (Heb. Mitsrayim)

(Yakov’s descendants leaving a people who spoke a foreign language),

2Yehudah became his sacred place,

and Yisrael his kingdom.

3The Red Sea looked and fled.[ref]

The Yordan river turned back.[ref]

4The mountains skipped like rams,

and the little hills like lambs.

5Why did you flee, sea?

Yordan, why did you turn back?

6Mountains, why did you skip like rams?

You little hills, why did you skip like lambs?

7Tremble, earth, before the master

at the presence of Yakov’s God.

8He turned the rock into a pool of water,

and the hard rock into a spring of water.

Exo 14:21:

21Then Mosheh stretched his arm out over the sea and Yahweh sent a strong east wind. It blew all night and divided the sea on each side and dried the strip of land in the middle.

Josh 3:16:

16then the water coming from upstream suddenly stopped flowing. The water far upstream piled up near a town called Adam (near Tsaretan), and the water that normally flowed down towards the Sea of Arabah (also called the Dead Sea or the Salt Sea) stopped flowing, so the people were able to cross what was the Yordan River opposite Yericho.
