The phrase to fall into the hands of someone indicates that the person who “falls” is in the power of the other person. In other words, the person with the hands has total control over the person who “falls.” In the context, the author implies that God will use the power or control to punish the person who “falls into” his hands. Here, much as in 3:12 and 9:14, the phrase the living God identifies God as the one who “lives” and possibly as the one who gives “life.” The primary point is that God actually “lives,” unlike idols and other things that people call “god.” If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a word or phrase that emphasizes that God really “lives.” Alternate translation: “of the God who lives” or “of the true God”
