10:22 sincere hearts: Under the new covenant, believers have transformed hearts (8:10; 10:16; Jer 31:31-34).
• fully trusting him: Christ’s work on our behalf gives us confidence that God will welcome us into his presence.
• our guilty consciences have been sprinkled . . . our bodies have been washed: Christ’s sacrificial death has provided complete cleansing from sin (see 9:13-14, 19-23).

Here, the word approach refers implicitly to getting close to something but not necessarily being right next to it. Here, the author wants believers to approach the heavenly sanctuary (See: 10:19). This means that they enter into God’s presence. It does not mean that they enter into heaven to be within the sanctuary itself. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a word or phrase that refers to being in someone’s presence. See how you translated the similar construction in 4:16. In the author’s culture, the word heart refers to the place where humans think and plan. The author speaks as if the audience has been sprinkled in order to identify them as people who are part of the covenant and who have been purified. Here the author is probably referring to how Israelites and their priests were required to wash with water in certain situations. Some scholars suggest that the author is also alluding to Christian baptism here. The author speaks as if the audience has been washed in order to identify them as people who have been purified or cleansed. If it would be helpful in your language, you could explain what the “washing” means. Alternate translation: “having been cleansed as if it were washed”
