TSNTyndale Study Notes:

2:14 When Israel attacked Jericho, Joshua and the two spies kept their promise to spare Rahab (6:22).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

General Information:

The Israelite spies make the promise which Rahab asked for in Joshua 2:12

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom

נַפְשֵׁ֤נוּ תַחְתֵּיכֶם֙ לָמ֔וּת

lives,our for,your_all'ss to,death

This idiom is a way of swearing and asking God to curse them if they do not keep their promise. Alternate translation: “If we do not do what we promise, may Yahweh cause us to die”
