The word paralytic describes people who are not able to use or control some or all of their arms and legs because of injury or sickness. See how you translated paralytic in 4:24. A mat was a portable bed that could also be used to transport a person. If your readers would not be familiar with this type of bed, you could use the name of something similar in your area or you could use a more general term. Alternate translation: “a stretcher”

Here Matthew implies that Jesus recognized that the friends of this paralyzed man strongly believed that he could heal him. Their actions proved that.
