18:16-33 God took Abraham into his confidence as his prophet (18:16-21; see 20:7); Abraham, in turn, interceded for Sodom (18:23-32; see Heb 7:23-26). God is able to do whatever he chooses to do; this passage affirms that it will be just and right.

Alternate translation: “After they had finished eating, the three men got up to leave”
וַיַּשְׁקִ֖פוּ עַל פְּנֵ֣י סְדֹ֑ם
and,looked_down on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in face/surface_of Şədom
This phrase reflects the fact that the city of Sodom was lower in elevation than the city of Hebron, where Abraham was living. Alternate translation: “and started heading down toward the city of Sodom.”
וְאַ֨בְרָהָ֔ם הֹלֵ֥ךְ עִמָּ֖ם
