4:18 Yeshua calls his first four followers

(Mark 1:16-20; Luke 5:1-11)

18 As Yeshua (Jesus; Grk. Yesus) walked beside Lake Galil, he saw two brothers, Shim’on (Simon) (later nicknamed ‘Rock’/Kefa (Peter; Grk. Petros)) and Andreas, throwing a net into the water because they were fishermen. 19 “Come and follow me,” Yeshua told them, “and I’ll make you into fishers of people.” 20 So they left their nets immediately and followed after him.

21 Going on a bit further, he saw two other brothers, Ya’akov (James; Grk. Yakobos) and Yohan (John; Grk. Yoannes), in the boat getting their nets ready along with their father Zavday (Grk. Zebedaios), and Yeshua also called the two of them. 22 So they too immediately left the boat and their father, and followed after him.

19 Then a bit further on he saw two of Zavday’s (Grk. Zebedaios’) sons, Ya’akov (James; Grk. Yakobos) and his brother Yohan, in a boat getting the nets ready. 20 Yeshua called them and they too went off with him, leaving their father Zavday in the boat with the hired workers.

5:1 The huge catch of fish

(Mark 1:16-20; Mat. 4:18-22)

5 One time when the crowd was pressuring Yeshua (Jesus; Grk. Yesus) that they wanted to hear God’s message as he stood by Lake Galil, 2 he saw two boats at the edge of the water, but the fishermen had left the boats so they could wash their nets. 3 Yeshua hopped into one of the boats which turned out to be Shim’on’s (Simon’s), and asked him just to row out a little way from the land. Then Yeshua sat there in the boat and taught the crowds from there.[ref]

4 Once he’d finished his speaking, he told Shim’on, “Go out to the deeper parts and lower your nets to catch some fish.”

5 “Master,” Shim’on answered, “we worked all through the night and didn’t catch anything,[ref] but ok, I’ll do what you say and lower the nets.” 6 When they lowered the nets, they quickly netted a huge catch of fish,[ref] so much so that their nets began to rip 7 and they had to signal to their companions in the other boat to come and help. When they got there, they filled both boats with so many fish that the weight began to sink them. 8 When Shim’on Kefa (Peter; Grk. Petros) had a moment to realise what had just happened, he knelt in the boat in front of Yeshua and said, “You must leave me, master, because I’m just a sinful man.”

9 Kefa and all those with him were stunned at the size of the catch, 10 including Ya’akov (James; Grk. Yakobos) and Yohan (John; Grk. Yoannes) (Zavday’s (Grk. Zebedaios’) sons) who were his fishing partners. Then Yeshua told Shim’on, “Don’t be afraid—from now on you’ll be catching people.”

11 When they got the boats up onto the shore, they left everything there and followed after Yeshua.

Come _out from me, because I _am a_man sinful, master.

9 For/Because amazement seized him and all the ones with him, at the catch of _the fishes which they _captured,

10 and also Yakōbos/(Yaˊₐqoⱱ) and Yōannaʸs, sons of _Zebedaios, who likewise were partners the with _Simōn.
And the Yaʸsous said to the Simōn:
Be_ not _fearing, from the time now you _will _be catching people.

11 And having _brought _down the boats to the land, having _left all things, they _followed after _him.
