26:17 Yeshua gets ready to celebrate Passover
17 On the first day of the Flat Bread Celebration, the Yeshua’s apprentices approached him and asked, “Where do you want us to prepare the passover meal for you?”
18 “Go into the city to so-and-so,” answered Yeshua, “and tell him that the teacher said, ‘My time is getting close, but I’ll celebrate the passover meal with you, along with my apprentices.’ ”
19 So the apprentices did as Yeshua had instructed them, and then they prepared the passover meal.
20 That evening as Yeshua was sitting with the twelve, 21 he said to them while they were still eating, “I can assure you that one of you is going to turn me in.”
22 They were very upset and one by one they asked him, “Surely it won’t be me, master?”
23 [ref]“It’s the one who dipped his bread into the bowl at the same time as I did,” Yeshua answered. “He’s the one who’s going to turn me in. 24 It’s true that humanity’s child is going to suffer what has already been written about, but on the other hand, the end won’t be good for the man who turns him in, in fact it would have been better for him if he’d never been born.”
25 “Surely it won’t be me, honoured teacher?” asked Yudas, the one who would hand him in.[fn]
“You said it,” he replied.

14:12 Yeshua’s trainees prepare the Passover meal
12 On the first day of the Flat Bread Celebration when the lambs would be slaughtered ready for the special Passover meal, Yeshua’s trainees asked him, “Where do you want us to get everything ready for our Passover meal?”
13 So Yeshua sent off two of them with these instructions, “Go into town and a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you there. Just follow him 14 until he goes into a house. Then find the owner of the house and tell him that the teacher wants to know the location of the guestroom where he and his trainees can celebrate the Passover meal. 15 He’ll show you a large, furnished room upstairs—that’s where you can get everything ready.”
16 So the two of them went off into the town, and everything happened there exactly as Yeshua had told them, and so they prepared the special meal there.
14:16 Yeshua shocks his trainees at the Passover meal
(Yhn 13:21-30, Mat. 26:20-30, Luke 22:14-23, 1 Cor. 11:23-25)
17 As the evening approached, Yeshua went in for dinner with his twelve trainees. 18 [ref]As they were sitting around eating, he told them, “I will tell you frankly that one of you eating with me here will hand me over to be arrested.” 19 That upset them, and several of them individually asked, “Surely it couldn’t be me?”
20 Then he continued, “It’s one of the twelve—the one who dips his bread in the sauce at the same time as me. 21 Indeed it’s written in the scriptures that humanity’s child will be arrested, but on the other hand, what a tragedy it will be for the one who hands him over—in fact it would be better for that man if he was never born.”
22:7 Yeshua organises their Passover dinner
7 Then the day of the flat bread dinner arrived when the Passover celebration is observed. 8 Yeshua sent Peter and Yohan, telling them, “Go on ahead and prepare our Passover meal ready for us to eat.”
9 “Where should we prepare it?” they asked. 10 “Listen,” he said, “go ahead and when you enter the city you’ll meet a man carrying a pitcher of water. Follow him into the house that he goes into. 11 Then tell the home-owner that the teacher wants to know where the guest room is so that he can eat the Passover meal with his followers 12 and he’ll show you a large upper room that’s already set-up. That’s where you should prepare the meal.” 13 So the two of them went on ahead and found it exactly like he’d told them, and so they prepared the Passover dinner.
22:13 The cups and the bread at dinner
14 When it was time to eat, Yeshua and his apprentices sat down together 15 and he told them, “I’ve been really looking forward to eating this passover dinner with you all before my time of suffering begins, 16 because I’m telling you that I certainly won’t eat it again until it’s fulfilled in God’s kingdom.”
17 Then when the wine cup was passed to him, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and share it among yourselves, 18 because I’m telling you that after this, I won’t drink the product of the vines again until God’s kingdom comes.
19 Then picking up some bread and giving thanks, he broke the bread apart and gave it to them saying, “This is my body which is being given for you all. Do this when you remember me.” 20 [ref]Similarly with the cup of wine that comes after they’ve eaten, he said, “This cup is the new agreement in my blood which will be poured out for you all.
21 [ref]“However, the one who will turn me in is sitting with me at the table. 22 Now, humanity’s child has to endure what’s been previously designated, but on the other hand, it won’t end well for the man who turns him in.”
22:22 The apprentices argue about being the greatest
23 This got them debating among themselves about which one of them it might be who was going to do that
13:21 Yeshua indicates who will hand him over
21 After saying these things, Yeshua thoughts were troubled and he said, “I can assure you that one of you will be turning me in.”
22 This made his apprentices glance around at each other, puzzled about which one he was talking about. 23 One of them that Yeshua especially liked,[fn] was leaning against him at the table. 24 So Simon Peter nodded to him to find out who Yeshua had been talking about, 25 and he leaned back on Yeshua and asked quietly, “Master, who is it?”
26 “It’s the one I hand this piece of bread to after I’ve dipped it in the sauce,” Yeshua answered. Then after dipping his piece of bread in, he gave it to Yudas Iscariot. 27 After accepting the piece of bread, Satan entered into Yudas, and then Yeshua told him, “What you’re about to do, do it soon.” 28 But none of the others sitting around the table knew what Yeshua meant. 29 Some of them thought that since Yudas held their purse, perhaps Yeshua was getting him to buy something they needed for the feast or to give something to the poor.
30 Anyway, having eaten the piece of bread, Yudas went straight outside where it was already dark.
13:23 This apprentice, unnamed here, is assumed to be the author of this account (being shy or modest).
