OET ROM chapter 8

8 So now those who are in Messiah Yeshua cannot be condemned 2 because the law of the spirit of life in him freed you from the law of sin and death. 3 The law was powerless in that it was faltering through our bodies. God sent his son in a body just like our sinful bodies, and concerning sin, he condemned sin itself in the flesh 4 so that for those of us who were no longer living according to the flesh but according to the spirit, then the just act of the law would be fulfilled in us. 5 People who live according to their physical desires, think about physical things, but those who live according to the spirit, think about spiritual things. 6 The worldly mindset leads to death, but the spiritual mindset leads to life and peace. 7 The worldly mindset is making God your enemy because it’s not being subjected to God’s law, in fact it’s not even able to, 8 and those who are worldly aren’t able to bring pleasure to God.

9 And all of you aren’t worldly, but in the spirit, if indeed God’s spirit is living in you, but anyone who doesn’t have the spirit of Messiah, doesn’t belong to him. 10 But if Messiah is in you, while your body is dead because of sin, your spirit has life because it’s been declared guiltless. 11 [ref]Yes, if the spirit of the one who brought Yeshua back to life is living in you, then the one who brought Messiah Yeshua back to life will also give life to your mortal bodies by means of his spirit living inside you all.

12 So then brothers and sisters, we don’t owe anything to our sinful natures, nor do we need worldly living. 13 If you all live according to the sinful nature, you’ll die, but if you put bodily practices to death with the help of the spirit, you’ll live, 14 because all those who’re led by God’s spirit become God’s children. 15 [ref]You didn’t receive a spirit of slavery to fear again, but rather it was the spirit of adoption as children that you all received, and with his help we call out, ‘Father, father.’ 16 God’s spirit himself agrees together with our spirit that we are God’s children, 17 and if we’re his children, then we’re also heirs so we’ll receive an inheritance from God. That makes us fellow-heirs along with Messiah—if we’re suffering with him then we’ll also be honoured along with him.

8 There _is _not _one consequently now condemnation to _the ones in chosen _one /messiah Yaʸsous, 2 for/because the law of _the spirit of_ the _life in chosen _one /messiah Yaʸsous, freed you from the law of_ the _sin and the death.
3 For/Because the powerless is of _the law, in that it _was _faltering through the flesh, the god the of _himself the_son having _sent, in the_likeness of _flesh sin, and concerning sin, condemned the sin in the flesh, 4 in _order _that the just _act of _the law may _be _fulfilled in us, the ones not according _to the_flesh walking, but according _to the_spirit.
5 For/Because the ones according _to flesh being, the things of _the flesh are _thinking, but the ones according _to spirit, the things of _the spirit.
6 For/Because the mindset of _the flesh is death, but the mindset of _the spirit is life and peace.
7 Because the mindset of _the flesh is enmity toward god, because/for to _the law of_ the _god not it _is _being _subjected, because/for not _even it _is _able.
8 And the ones in flesh being, to_god to _bring _pleasure not are _being _able.
9 And you _all not are in flesh, but in spirit, if _indeed the_spirit of_god is _dwelling in you _all.
But if anyone the_spirit of_chosen _one /messiah not is _having, this one not is of _him.
10 But if chosen _one /messiah is in you _all, the on _one _hand body dead because _of sin, on _the _other _hand the spirit life because _of righteousness.
11 But if the spirit of _the one having _raised the Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa) from the_dead is _indwelling in you _all, the one having _raised from the_dead chosen _one /messiah Yaʸsous will _be _giving _life also to _the mortal bodies of _you _all, through the indwelling of _him of_spirit in you _all.
12 Therefore consequently, brothers, debtors we _are, not to _the flesh, which according _to flesh to _be _living.
13 For/Because if according _to the_flesh you _all _are _living, you _all _are _going to _be _dying _off, but if by_the_spirit the practices of _the body you _all _are _putting _to _death, you _all _will _be _living.
14 For/Because as _many _as by_the_spirit of_god are _being _led, these the_sons of_god are.
15 For/Because not you _all _received a_spirit of _slavery again to fear, but you _all _received the_spirit of _adoption _as _sons, by whom we _are _crying _out:
father, the father.
16 Himself the spirit is _bearing _witness _with with _the spirit of _us that we _are children of_god.
17 And if children, also heirs, heirs on _one _hand of_god, on _the _other _hand fellow-heirs of_chosen _one /messiah, if _indeed we _are _suffering _with him, that also we _may _be _glorified _with him.

8:18 Even creation itself is waiting

18 I’m sure that any sufferings we experience in the present age are nothing in comparison with the coming splendour that’s going to be revealed to us 19 because all of creation is eagerly expecting and waiting for God’s children to be revealed. 20 [ref]Yes, all of creation has been subjected to lack of purpose, not willingly but because it was decided by the one who subjected it, but it remains with the hope 21 that it too will be freed from the slavery of corruption and then released into the freedom of the splendour of God’s children, 22 because we’re aware that all of creation is groaning and suffering[fn] along with us right through to the present time. 23 [ref]And not only that, but we ourselves who have the initial tastes of the spirit life, we also are groaning and like children waiting for our bodies to be set free from slavery 24 because we were saved having hope, but if you can see it then it’s not hope, because you don’t need to hope for something that you can already see. 25 So we hope for what we can’t yet see and so we have to patiently keep waiting.

26 Similarly the spirit also helps us with our weaknesses, because we don’t even know what to pray for, but the spirit intercedes with groanings that we can’t put into words. 27 The one who searches our hearts knows the mindset of the spirit because the spirit intercedes for the believers as God desires.

28 We know that God makes all things work together for good for those who love him—those who are being called according to his purpose. 29 Because those he foreknew, he also predetermined to be similar to his son’s image, so that his son would become the eldest of many siblings. 30 The ones he’d predetermined he also called, and the ones he’d called, he also declared guiltless, and the ones declared guiltless, he also honoured in heaven.

18 For/Because I _am _counting that not worthy are the sufferings of _the present time, with the going glory to _be _revealed to us.
19 For/Because the eager _expectation of _the creation, the revelation of _the sons of_ the _god is _eagerly _waiting.
20 For/Because to _the uselessness, the creation was _subjected, not willingly, but because _of the one having _subjected it, in hope 21 that also itself the creation will _be _being _freed from the slavery of_ the _corruption, into the freedom of _the glory of _the children of_ the _god.
22 For/Because we _have _known that all the creation is _groaning _together and is _travailing _together until the time now.
23 Not and only that, but also ourselves, the first-fruit of _the spirit having, we also ourselves in ourselves are _groaning, adoption _as _sons eagerly _waiting, the redemption of _the body of _us.
24 For/Because in _the hope we _were _saved, but hope being _seen, not is hope, because/for what is _seeing anyone, he _is _hoping?
25 But if what not we _are _seeing we _are _hoping, through endurance we _are _eagerly _waiting.
26 And likewise also the spirit is _helping with _the weakness of _us, because/for the who we _may _pray as it _is _fitting, not we _have _known, but itself the spirit is _interceding with _groanings inexpressible.
27 And the one searching our hearts has _known what is the mindset of _the spirit, because according _to god, it _is _pleading for the_holy ones.
28 And we _have _known that to _the ones loving the god, all things is _working _together the god for good, to _the ones according _to ^his_purpose called being.
29 Because whom he _foreknew, also he _predetermined similar to _the image of _the son of _him, in _order that to _be him firstborn among many brothers.
30 And whom he _predetermined, these also he _called, and whom he _called, these also he _justified, and whom he _justified, these also he _glorified.

8:31 Nothing can separate us from God’s love

31 So then, what can we say about all this? If God is for us, who is against us? 32 If he didn’t spare his own son but gave him to be executed for us, won’t the two of them also give us everything else? 33 Who will bring charges against those chosen by God? God is the one declaring us guiltless. 34 So who’s the one condemning us? Messiah Yeshua (the one who died but came back to life and who’s now sitting beside God) is also pleading for us. 35 Who will separate us from Messiah’s love? Tribulation or distress or persecution or famine or poverty or danger or execution? 36 [ref]As it’s been written:

‘We are being put to death all day

on your account.

We were counted like sheep ready to be slaughtered.’

37 But in all that, we are more than conquerors through the one who loved us. 38 Yes, I’ve been persuaded that neither death or life, angels or rulers, present or future events, powers, 39 height or depth, or anything else in creation, will be able to separate us from God’s love that’s revealed in our master Messiah Yeshua.

31 Therefore what we _will _be _saying to these things?
If the god is for us, who is against us?
32 Who surely from _his own son not spared, but for us all gave _over him, how not also with him, the things all to _us he _will _be _granting?
33 Who will _be _indicting against the_chosen ones of_god?
god is the one justifying.
34 Who is the one condemning?
chosen _one /messiah Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa) the one having _died _off, but rather having _been _raised who, also is at the_right hand of_ the _god, who also is _pleading for us.
35 Who us will _be _separating from the love of _the chosen _one /messiah?
Tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?
36 As it _has _been _written, that On _account of _you, we _are _being _put _to _death all the day, we _were _counted as sheep of _slaughter.
37 But in these things all, we _are _beyond _conquering through the one having _loved us.
38 For/Because I _have _been _persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor messengers, nor rulers, nor having _presented things, nor coming things, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any creation other, will _be _able us to _separate from the love of_ the _god, which in chosen _one /messiah Yaʸsous, the master of _us.
