3 And _ came Dāvid and _ men _ his to the _ city and _ see/lo/see [it _ was]_ burnedin/on/at/with _ fire and _ wives _ their and _ sons _ their and _ daughters _ their they _ had_ been_ taken_ captive4 And _ raised Dāvid and _ the _ people which with _ him/it DOM voices _ their and _ wept until that there _ [was]_ not(is) _ in_ them strength to _ weep .
5 And _ two the _ wivesof _ Dāvidthey _ had_ been_ taken_ captiveʼAḩīnoˊam the _ of _ Yizrə ˊēʼl/(Jezreel)and _ ʼAⱱīgayil the _ wifeof _ Nāⱱālthe _ Karmə lī .
6 And _ distressed to _ Dāvid exceedingly if/because they _ saidthe _ people of _ stoning _ him if/because it _ was_ bitterthe _ soulof _ allthe _ people everyone on sons _ his [fn ] and _ because _ ofdaughters _ his and _ strengthened Dāvid in/on/at/with _ LORD his/its _ god .
7 and _ he/it _ saidDāvid to ʼEⱱyātār the _ priest/officer the _ sonof _ ʼAḩīmelekbring please to _ me the _ ephod and _ brought ʼEⱱyātār DOM the _ ephod to Dāvid .
8 And _ inquired Dāvid in/on/at/with _ LORD to _ say will _ I_ pursueafter the _ band the _ this overtake _ them and _ he/it _ saidto _ him/it pursue if/because certainly _ (overtake)you _ will_ overtake_ [it]and _ to _ rescueyou _ will_ rescue_ [them]9 And _ he/it _ wentDāvid he [fn ] and _ six hundred(s) man who with _ him/it and _ they _ cameto the _ wadithe _ Bə sōr and _ the _ left _ behindthey _ remained10 And _ pursued Dāvid he and _ four hundred(s) man and _ they _ stoodtwo _ hundredman who they _ were_ [too]_ exhaustedtoo _ to_ cross DOM the _ wadithe _ Bə sōr .
11 And _ found a _ manfrom _ Miʦrayim/(Miʦrayim/(Egypt))in _ the_ field and _ they _ tookDOM _ him/it to Dāvid and _ gave to _ him/it bread and _ ate and _ drink _ him water .
12 And _ gave to _ him/it a _ sliceof _ fig_ cakeand _ two bunches _ of_ raisinsand _ ate and _ revived his/its _ breath/wind/spirit to _ him/it if/because not he _ had_ eatenfood and _ not he _ had_ drunkwater three days and _ three nights .
13 and _ he/it _ saidto _ him/it Dāvid to _ whom you and _ where from _ there [are] _ youand _ he/it _ said[am] _ a_ young_ manfrom _ Miʦrayim/(Miʦrayim)I a _ slaveof _ man ˊAmālēqite and _ abandoned _ me my _ master if/because I _ was_ sickthe _ day (the) _ three14 We we _ had_ made_ a_ raid[the] _ Negeⱱthe _ Kə rētī and _ on [that] _ whichbelongs _ to_ Yə hūdāh/(Judah) and _ on [the] _ Negeⱱof _ Kālēⱱ/(Caleb)and _ DOM Tsiqlag/(Ziklag) we _ had_ burnedin/on/at/with _ fire .
15 And _ he/it _ saidto _ him/it Dāvid take _ down_ me to the _ band the _ this and _ he/it _ saidswear to/for _ me in/on/at/with _ god if kill _ me and _ if deliver _ me in/on/at/with _ hands my _ master and _ take _ down_ you to the _ band the _ this .
16 And _ taken _ down_ him and _ see/lo/see [they _ were]_ spread_ outover the _ surfaceof _ allthe _ earth/land eating and _ drinking and _ dancing in/on/at/with _ all the _ plunder the _ great which they _ had_ takenfrom _ land of _ [the]_ Fə lishtiyand _ from _ land of _ Yə hūdāh17 And _ attacked _ them Dāvid from _ the _ twilight and _ unto the _ evening of _ next _ day_ them and _ not he _ escapedfrom _ them anyone if/because (if) four hundred(s) man young _ manwho they _ rodeon the _ camels and _ fled .
18 And _ recovered Dāvid DOM all that they _ had_ takenˊAmālēq and _ DOM the _ twowives _ his he _ rescuedDāvid .
19 And _ not it _ was_ missingto/for _ them from the _ small(sg) and _ unto the _ great and _ unto sons and _ daughters and _ from _ plunder and _ unto all that they _ had_ takento/for _ them the _ everything he _ brought_ backDāvid .
20 And _ he/it _ tookDāvid DOM all the _ flocks and _ the _ herds they _ drove_ [them]to _ (the) _ face_ of/in_ front_ of/beforethe _ livestock (the) _ that and _ they _ saidthis [is] _ the_ bootyof _ Dāvid21 And _ came Dāvid to two _ hundredthe _ men who they _ had_ been_ [too]_ exhaustedtoo _ to_ go after Dāvid and _ left _ them in/on/at/with _ wadi the _ Bə sōr and _ they _ went_ outto _ meet Dāvid and _ to _ meet the _ people which with _ him/it and _ approached Dāvid DOM the _ people and _ saluted to/for _ them for _ peace .
22 and _ said every man evil and _ worthless among _ the _ men who they _ had_ gonewith Dāvid and _ they _ saidbecause that not they _ wentwith _ us not we _ will_ giveto/for _ them any _ of_ the _ plunder which we _ have_ recoveredif/because (if) everyone DOM his/its _ wife/woman and _ DOM children _ his and _ take and _ go .
23 and _ he/it _ saidDāvid not you _ all_ must_ dothus brothers _ my DOM [that] _ whichhe _ has_ givenYHWH to/for _ us and _ preserved DOM _ us and _ he/it _ gaveDOM the _ band the _ came against _ us in/on/at/with _ hand _ us .
24 And _ who will _ he_ listento/for _ you _ allto _ the _ word/thing/matterthe _ this if/because as _ share the _ goes _ downin/on/at/with _ battle and _ as _ share the _ stays with the _ vessels alike they _ will_ share25 and _ he/it _ wasfrom _ the _ day (the) _ that and _ onward and _ made _ it as _ statute and _ as _ ordinance for _ Yisrāʼēl /(Israel) until the _ day the _ this .
26 and _ came Dāvid to Tsiqlag/(Ziklag) and _ sent some _ of_ the _ plunder to _ elders of _ Yə hūdāh/(Judah)to _ friends _ his to _ say here to/for _ you _ alla _ blessingfrom _ plunder of _ the_ enemiesof _ YHWH 27 To _ those in _ house _ ofel and _ for _ those in/on/at/with _ Rāʼmōt _ ofthe _ Negeⱱand _ for _ those in/on/at/with _ Yattir/(Jattir) .
28 And _ to _ those in/on/at/with _ ˊArōˊēr and _ for _ those in/on/at/with _ Sifmōt and _ for _ those in/on/at/with _ ʼEshtə moˊa .
29 and _ to _ those in/on/at/with _ Rākāl and _ to _ those in/on/at/with _ towns the _ Yə raḩmə ʼēl ī/(Jerahmeelites) and _ for _ those in/on/at/with _ towns the _ Qēynīs .
30 And _ to _ those in/on/at/with _ Ḩārə māh and _ for _ those in/on/at/with _ Bor- ashan and _ for _ those in/on/at/with _ ˊAtāk .
31 And _ to _ those in/on/at/with _ Ḩeⱱrōn and _ to/for _ all the _ places where he _ had_ gone_ aboutthere Dāvid he and _ men _ his .
