63 Who’s that coming from Edom,[ref]

coming from Botsrah dressed in crimson?

This one dressed like an honoured person,

marching in the greatness of his strength?

It’s me, Yahweh, proclaiming what’s right—powerful to rescue.

2 What’s that red on your clothes?

Your clothes look like you’be been treading grapes in a winepress?

3 I’ve trodden in the winepress alone,

≈ and there wasn’t anyone from the nations with me.

I trod them in my anger,

≈ and trampled them in my fury.[ref]

and their blood is splattered onto my clothes.[ref]

≈ All my clothes are stained

4 because I had decided that this was the day of vengeance,

and the year had come for me to buy my people’s freedom.

5 I looked and there wasn’t anyone to help,[ref]

≈ and I was appalled that no one assisted,

but my power gave me victory,

≈ and my rage sustained me.

6 I trod down peoples in my anger,

and in my rage, I made them drunk,

and I poured their blood out on the ground.

7 I’ll tell others about Yahweh’s loyal commitment—

praising him for his treatment of us.

Yes, for his amazing goodness to Yisrael’s descendants,

which he’s shown us according to his mercy,

and according to his incredible loyal commitment,

8 and he said, “They’re definitely my people—

children who wouldn’t be disloyal,”

and he became their rescuer.

9 In all their suffering, he also suffered,

and his messenger went ahead of him to rescue them.

In his love and mercy, he paid the price for their freedom,

through that era, he lifted them up and carried them.

10 However, they rebelled and grieved his holy spirit,

→ so he turned into their enemy who fought against them.

11 Then his people recalled that era with Mosheh (Moses),

Where is the one who brought them up from the sea

along with those shepherds of his flock?

Where is the one who sent his holy spirit to be among them,

12 who transferred his glorious power to Mosheh,

who then divided the sea in front of them[ref]

to gain himself a lasting reputation,

13 who led them through the depths?

Like a horse in the wilderness, they didn’t stumble.

14 Like cattle going down a valley, Yahweh’s spirit gave them peace,

so you led your people to give yourself an incredible reputation.

15 Look from heaven

≈ and see from your wonderful, holy residence.

Where’s your actions full of zeal and power?

Your inner motivation and your compassion have restrained themselves from me.

16 Yes, you are our father, although Avraham doesn’t know us

≈ and Yisrael doesn’t recognise us.

You, Yahweh, are our father

and the one who bought us our freedom long ago.

17 Yahweh, why do you make us wander from your paths—

hardening our hearts so we don’t want to obey you.

Return for your servants’ sake—

the tribes who are your inheritance.

18 For a while, your holy people possessed your sanctuary.

Now our enemies have trampled over your sacred place.

19 We’ve become like those who you never ruled over—

≈ like those who never called to you for help.
