The word anyone here implies “any teacher or preacher.” John does not want the believers to welcome any teacher who does not teach what Jesus taught, and specifically that Jesus came as a human being (See: [1:7](../01/07.md)). Alternate translation: [If anyone comes to you claiming to be a teacher, but he teaches differently than this]
