OET JER chapter 15

15 Then Yahweh told me, “Even if Mosheh (Moses) or Shemuel (Samuel) were standing in front of me, I still wouldn’t be in favour of this group of people. Send them out away from me, and let them go away.[ref] 2 If anyone comes to ask you where they should go, tell them that this is what Yahweh says:

Those who are destined for death, will die.

Those for the sword, will die in war.

Those for famine, will suffer starvation.

Those for exile, will be taken away in captivity.[ref]

3 Yahweh declares that he’ll assign them to four groups:

1. killed by the sword,
2. dragged away by wild dogs,
3. assigned to the birds of prey, and
4. assigned to be devoured and destroyed by wild animals.

4 Because of what Yehudah’s King Menashsheh (Manasseh) did in Yerushalem (Jerusalem), I’ll make people in all the world’s nations be horrified by them.[ref]

5 Yes, who will feel sorry for you, Yerushalem,

≈ and who will show sympathy for you?

Who will go out of their way to ask about your welfare?

6 Yahweh declares: You’ve forsaken me—

you’ve turned your back on me

so I’ve used my power against you to destroy you.

I’m tired of letting you off.

7 So I’ll winnow them with a pitchfork at the country’s gates.

I’ll make them childless, thus destroying my people

as they haven’t turned from their own ways.

8 I’ll make more widows for them than sand grains on the beach.

I’ll send a destroyer against the mothers of their young men at midday.

I’ll make shock and horror fall on them suddenly.

9 The mother who has borne seven children will waste away.

She’ll gasp—her sun will set while it is still daytime.

She’ll be ashamed and embarrassed, because I will give those who remain

to be killed by the sword in their enemies’ presence.

That is Yahweh’s declaration.

5 If/because who will _he _have _compassion on_you Oh _Yərūshālam/(Jerusalem) and_who will _he _show _sympathy to/for_you(fs) and_who will _he _turn _aside to_ask to_welfare to/for_you(fs).
6 You you _abandoned DOM_me the _utterance _of YHWH backwards you _go and_I _have _stretched _out DOM hand _of_my on_you and_I_have _destroyed _you I _had _wearied _myself to _relent.
7 And_I_have _winnowed _them with_a _winnowing _fork in_the _gates _of the_earth/land I _have _made _childless I _have _destroyed DOM people _of_my from_ways _of_their not they _have _turned _away.
8 They _are _numerous to_me widows _of_its[fn] more_than_the_sand _of the_seas I _have _brought to/for_them on a _mother a _young _man a _destroyer at_noon(s) I _have _made _fall on/upon_it(f) suddenly anguish and_sudden _terror.
9 She _has _languished the_one _who_bore _of (of)_the_seven_children it _has _panted breath _of_her it _went[fn] sun _of_her while_still by _day she _is _ashamed and_she _is _abashed and_remnant _of_their to_sword I _will _give to_(the)_face _of/in _front _of/before enemies _of_their the _utterance _of YHWH.

15:10 Yirmeyah’s complaint to Yahweh

10 Poor me, mother, that you gave birth to me—

a man of strife and contention throughout the entire region.

I haven’t lent money or borrowed it

yet they all curse me.

11 Yahweh said,

Won’t I rescue you for good?

Won’t I make your enemies plead with you

in a time of evil and distress?

12 Can anyone break iron—

iron from the north, or bronze?

13 I’ll give your wealth and treasures to your enemies as plunder without them having to pay

as the price for all your sins committed across all your territories.

14 Then I’ll make you serve your enemies in a land that you hadn’t been to before

because the fire of my anger towards you all has been kindled and will burn.

15 Yahweh, you know my situation.

Take note of my situation and bring your vengeance to those harassing me.

Don’t be patient with them and let them take me away.

Know that I suffer reproach for your sake.

16 Your messages were found and I consumed them.

Your message to me made me happy and gave me cause for celebration

because I bear your name, Commander-in-chief Yahweh, god of armies.

17 I didn’t sit among the gathering of the merry makers,

but rather, I enjoyed feeling your presence.

I sat alone because you’d filled me with indignation.

18 Why is my pain ongoing and my wound incurable, refusing to be healed?

Will you be like a spring that lets me down when its supply is unreliable?

19 So Yahweh said this:

If you return to me, then I’ll restore you and you’ll stand in front of me

because if you separate out the foolish things from the precious things,

you will be like my mouth. The people will come back to you,

but you yourself mustn’t go back to them.

20 I’ll make you like an impenetrable bronze wall to this people,

and they’ll fight against you.

However, they won’t defeat you,

because I’ll be with you to save you, and to rescue you.

That is Yahweh’s declaration. 21 Then I’ll rescue you from the plots of wicked people

≈ and I’ll buy your freedom from the ruthless people.

20 And_I_will _make _you for_people the_this into_a _wall _of bronze fortified and_people _will _fight against_you and_not they _will _prevail to/for_you(fs) if/because will_be_with _you I to_save_you and_to_deliver_you the _utterance _of YHWH.
21 And_I_will _deliver _you from_the_hand _of wicked_people and_I_will _ransom _you from_the_palm _of ruthless_people.
