TSNTyndale Study Notes:

15:1 Moses and Samuel were noted for their intercessory prayer. Several times, when they prayed for the rebellious Israelites, the Lord withdrew his threatened punishment (see Exod 32:11-14; Num 14:13-20; 1 Sam 7:8-10). But now, even their intervention would have been ineffective.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

General Information:

Jeremiah has just been praying to Yahweh.

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

(Occurrence 0) were standing in front of me, I would still not be in favor of this people

(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_said YHWH to=me if stand Mosheh and,Samuel to/for=my=face/front not heart,my to/towards the,people the=this send_~_away from=under presence,my and,go )

This implies that they are pleading for Yahweh to spare the people. Alternate translation: “were standing in front of me pleading for these people, I would still not be in favor of them”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / parallelism

(Occurrence 0) Send them out from before me, for them to go away

(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_said YHWH to=me if stand Mosheh and,Samuel to/for=my=face/front not heart,my to/towards the,people the=this send_~_away from=under presence,my and,go )

Yahweh repeats this idea of sending away his people to add emphasis to it.
