BrTrTherefore thus saith the Lord, If thou wilt return, then will I restore thee, and thou shalt stand before my face: and if thou wilt bring forth the precious from the worthless, thou shalt be as my mouth: and they shall return to thee; but thou shalt not return to them.

ULTTherefore Yahweh said this, “If you repent, then I will restore you, and you will stand before me.
 ⇔ For if you separate the foolish things from the precious things, you will be like my mouth. The people will come back to you,
 ⇔ but you yourself must not go back to them.

USTThen Yahweh replied to me saying this:
 ⇔ “If you begin again to trust in me,
 ⇔ I will restore you,
 ⇔ in order that you can continue to serve me.
 ⇔ If you proclaim good messages and not worthless ones,
 ⇔ you will continue to be the one who speaks what I tell you to say.
 ⇔ You must cause the people to pay attention to what you say;
 ⇔ you must not pay attention to what they say.

BSBTherefore this is what the LORD says: “If you return, I will restore you; you will stand in My presence. And if you speak words that are noble instead of worthless, you will be My spokesman. It is they who must turn to you, but you must not turn to them.

MSBTherefore this is what the LORD says: “If you return, I will restore you; you will stand in My presence. And if you speak words that are noble instead of worthless, you will be My spokesman. It is they who must turn to you, but you must not turn to them.

OEBThus therefore saith Jehovah:
 ⇔ If thou turn again, I will restore thee,
 ⇔ And thou shalt be My servant.
 ⇔ Let thy speech but be noble, not petty,
 ⇔ And so thou shalt be My mouthpiece;
 ⇔ They then may turn unto thee,
 ⇔ But thou shalt not turn unto them.

WEBBETherefore the LORD says,
 ⇔ “If you return, then I will bring you again,
 ⇔ that you may stand before me;
 ⇔ and if you take out the precious from the vile,
 ⇔ you will be as my mouth.
 ⇔ They will return to you,
 ⇔ but you will not return to them.

WMBB (Same as above)

NETBecause of this, the Lord said,
 ⇔ “You must repent of such words and thoughts!
 ⇔ If you do, I will restore you to the privilege of serving me.
 ⇔ If you say what is worthwhile instead of what is worthless,
 ⇔ I will again allow you to be my spokesman.
 ⇔ They must become as you have been.
 ⇔ You must not become like them.

LSVTherefore, thus said YHWH: “If you turn back, then I bring you back,
You stand before Me,
And if you bring out the precious from the vile,
You are as My mouth! They return to you,
And you do not return to them.

FBVSo this is what the Lord says: If you come back to me, I will take you back and you will serve me again. If what you talk about are worthwhile subjects and not nonsense, you will be my spokesman, Jeremiah.[fn] They must be the ones who follow you; you must not follow them.

 ⇔ you will continue to be the one who speaks what I tell you to say.
 ⇔ You must cause the people to pay attention to what you say;
 ⇔ you must not pay attention to what they say.

BBEFor this cause the Lord has said, If you will come back, then I will again let you take your place before me; and if you give out what is of value and not that which has no value, you will be as my mouth: let them come back to you, but do not go back to them.

TSNTyndale Study Notes:

15:19 The Lord confronted Jeremiah with the need to make a decision. If Jeremiah decided to return to a disposition of service and submission, the Lord would restore him to further usefulness. If Jeremiah took care to utter good words of submission, faith, and obedience, and reject worthless ones (such as those that the false prophets spoke, 14:14-16), Jeremiah could continue to be the Lord’s spokesman.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Jeremiah is compared to the mouth of Yahweh because he will be used to speak Yahweh’s message. Alternate translation: “you will speak for me”

(Occurrence 0) you yourself
