OET (OET-LV) Beloved, not be_imitating the evil, but the good.
The one doing_good of the god is, the one doing_evil not has_seen the god.
OET (OET-RV) My dear friend, don’t copy the evil things that others do, just the good things. Anyone who does what is good belongs to God—anyone who does evil things has not seen God.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / nominaladj
μὴ μιμοῦ τὸ κακὸν, ἀλλὰ τὸ ἀγαθόν
not /be/_imitating ¬the evil but ¬the good
John is using the adjectives evil and good as nouns in a general sense. Your language may use adjectives in the same way. If not, you could translate these words with an equivalent phrase. Alternate translation: “do not imitate evil things that people do, but imitate good things”
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / ellipsis
ἀλλὰ τὸ ἀγαθόν
but ¬the good
John is leaving out some of the words that in many languages a sentence would need in order to be complete. You can supply these words from the context if that would be clearer in your language. Alternate translation: “but imitate the good things that people do”
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
οὐχ ἑώρακεν τὸν Θεόν
not /has/_seen ¬the God
John is using the word seen to mean “believed in” or “experienced.” If it would be clearer in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: “has not experienced God” or “has not believed in God”
1:11 those who do evil: Diotrephes was condemned for his failure to live by the Christian rule of love (1 Jn 3:10-14). This was how Gaius could be sure that Diotrephes was not living according to the truth. This applies to all who refuse to accept the apostolic teaching about Jesus Christ and refuse to live in fellowship with others who do.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
