Literal Version

41:0 A prayer for healing

41 For the musical director: a song by David.

41People who’re concerned for the weak will be blessed

in the day of trouble, Yahweh will rescue them.

2Yahweh will protect them and keep them alive,

and they will be blessed on the earth.

Yahweh will not hand them over to their enemies.

3Yahweh will support them on the bed of suffering.

You’ll make their bed of sickness into a bed of healing.

4I said, “Yahweh, have mercy on me.

Heal my soul, because I’ve sinned against you.”

5My enemies speak evil against me, saying,

‘When will he die and be forgotten?’

6If my enemy comes to see me, he speaks hollow words.

He plots in his mind how to destroy me.

When he leaves me, he tells others about it.

7All who hate me, whisper together against me.

They plot how to make trouble for me.

8They say, “An evil disease has badly affected him.

Now that he’s down flat, he’ll never get up again.”

9Indeed, even my own close friend who I trusted,

who had meals at my place,

has betrayed me.

10But Yahweh, you have mercy on me and help me up

so that I can pay them back.

11Because my enemy doesn’t defeat me,

that’s how I know that you’re pleased with me.

12As for me, you support me in my integrity

and will keep me in your mind forever.

13May Israel’s God Yahweh be praised from everlasting to everlasting.

Let it be so, yes, let it be.
