62:0 Trusting in God

62 For the musical director: a song by David Hidutun.

62I wait in silence for God alone.

He’s the only one who can rescue me.

2He alone is my rock and the one who rescues me.

He’s my fortified tower—no enemy will get me out of there.

3How long, all of you, will you attack a man?

All of you will be murdered INVESTIGATE

like a leaning wall or a wobbling fence.

4They plan to bring him down from his high position.

They love to tell lies—

they bless him with their mouths, but in their minds they curse him. (Instrumental break.)

5I wait in silence for God alone

because I’ve placed my hope in him.

6He alone is my rock and the one who rescues me.

He’s my fortified tower—no enemy will get me out of there.

7It’s God who saves and honours me.

I find my safe place in God and he’s the source of my strength.

8Trust him at all times, you people.

Tell him all your troubles.

God is a place where we can be protected. (Instrumental break.)

9Humans are nothing but a puff of wind.

They don’t weigh much on the scales.

Even when weighed together, they’re lighter than air.

10Don’t rely on extortion or robbery.

Don’t hope uselessly in your wealth,

because it’ll bear no fruitdon’t fix your heart on them.

11God has spoken once.

Twice I’ve heard this:

all power comes from God.

12Also, loyal commitment comes from you, my master,

because you pay back every person for what they’ve done.
