OET (OET-LV)And_the_king he_rose_up in/on/at/with_anger_his from_drinking the_wine into the_garden the_palace and_Haman he_remained to_beg on life_his from_ʼEştēr the_queen if/because he_saw if/because_that it_was_determined to_him/it the_harm from_with the_king.

OET (OET-RV)Now the king became so angry that he got up and abandoned his wine-drinking at the banquet and went outside into the palace garden. But Haman stayed inside to beg his life from Queen Esther because he recognized that the king wanted to execute him.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom

וְהַמֶּ֜לֶךְ קָ֤ם בַּחֲמָתוֹ֙ מִמִּשְׁתֵּ֣ה הַיַּ֔יִן

and,the,king arose in/on/at/with,anger,his from,drinking the,wine

Here, in his rage is an idiom meaning to be extremely angry. Alternate translation: “the king was extremely angry and got up”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

אֶל־גִּנַּ֖ת הַבִּיתָ֑ן

to/towards garden the,palace

The implication is that Ahasuerus went outside to absorb the shock that a man he had promoted to the highest position in his empire was plotting to destroy his queen and her whole people. Ahasuerus needed to sort out his conflicting loyalties and decide what to do about this. If it would be misunderstood, you could say explicitly why he went outside. Alternate translation: “he went outside to the palace garden to decide what to do.”

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

לְבַקֵּ֤שׁ עַל־נַפְשׁוֹ֙

to,beg on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in life,his

Here, seeking means to beg or plead urgently for something. This phrase means that Haman wanted to beg Esther to persuade the king not to order his execution. Alternate translation: “to plead with Queen Esther to spare his life”

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

כִּ֣י רָאָ֔ה

that/for/because/then/when saw

Here, seeing is a metaphor for knowledge, notice, attention, or judgment. Alternate translation: “he realized” or “he understood”

Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

כָלְתָ֥ה אֵלָ֛יו הָרָעָ֖ה מֵאֵ֥ת הַמֶּֽלֶךְ

determined to=him/it the,harm from,with the,king

You can say this with an active form. Alternate translation: “the king had decided to cause a disaster against him” or “the king was decided to destroy him” or “the king had decided to kill him”

Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

כָלְתָ֥ה אֵלָ֛יו הָרָעָ֖ה מֵאֵ֥ת הַמֶּֽלֶךְ

determined to=him/it the,harm from,with the,king

Here the abstract noun evil means “harm,” not something that is morally wrong as in the previous verse. In this context, it can be expressed with a verb such as “execute.” Alternate translation: “the king was likely to execute him”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

7:6-7 Esther finally identified this wicked Haman as the enemy.
• Haman grew pale with fright: With this surprising and aggressive accusation by the queen and the evident rage of the king, Haman’s doom suddenly became apparent.
