Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
(Occurrence 0) light is sweet
(Some words not found in UHB: and,sweet the=light and=good for_the,eyes to=see DOM the,sun )
Here the word “light” refers to being able to see the sun and therefore being alive. And, this speaks of the joy of being alive as if the light had a sweet taste. Alternate translation: “it is a joy to be able to see the sun” or “being alive is delightful” (See also: figs-metaphor)
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / synecdoche
(Occurrence 0) for the eyes to see the sun
(Some words not found in UHB: and,sweet the=light and=good for_the,eyes to=see DOM the,sun )
The “eyes” represent the whole person. This phrase means basically the same thing as the previous phrase. Alternate translation: “for a person to see the sun” or “to be alive” (See also: figs-parallelism)
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
