Alternate translation: “Keep praying faithfully” or “Pray consistently”

γρηγοροῦντες
watching
The word staying alert expresses what Paul wants the Colossians to do as they pray. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a customary expression that indicates that staying alert happens at the same time as they “continue steadfastly in prayer.” Alternate translation: “and stay alert”
ἐν αὐτῇ

Alternate translation: “during your time of prayer”

ἐν εὐχαριστίᾳ
in with thanksgiving
If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea behind thanksgiving, you could express the idea by using a verbal phrase such as “and giving thanks” or an adverb such as “thankfully.” Alternate translation: “thankfully”
4:2 with an alert mind: The Greek verb behind this phrase is used in the New Testament to portray the need for Christians to be watchful in light of Christ’s return (Matt 24:42; 25:13; Mark 13:35, 37; 1 Thes 5:6; Rev 3:3; 16:15).
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
