OET (OET-LV) sensible, pure, homemakers, good, being_subjected to_their own husbands, in_order_that the message of_ the _god may_ not _be_being_slandered.
OET (OET-RV) and to be sensible and pure, homemakers that do good for others, living under the authority of their husbands so that others don’t speak evil of God’s message because of them.
ὑποτασσομένας τοῖς ἰδίοις ἀνδράσιν
/being/_subjected ˱to˲_their own husbands
Alternate translation: [and to obey their own husbands]
Note 1 topic: grammar-connect-logic-goal
ἵνα
in_order_that
Here, so that marks not insulting the word of God as a goal or purpose of the good behavior described in verses 4 and 5. This is not the only purpose of living well, but if the young women of the church do not do these things, people will consider God's message to be worthless. Use a connector in your language that makes it clear that what follows is a purpose of what came before.
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
ἵνα μὴ ὁ λόγος τοῦ Θεοῦ βλασφημῆται
in_order_that not the word ¬the ˱of˲_God /may_be_being/_slandered
If your language does not use this passive form, you can state this in active form. Alternate translation: [so that no one insults the word of God] or [so that no one insults God by saying bad things about his message]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
ὁ λόγος τοῦ Θεοῦ
the word ¬the ˱of˲_God
Here, word stands for “message.” If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression from your language or state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [the message from God]
2:1-15 Wholesome teaching was especially urgent on account of the false teachers, who had wreaked havoc on “whole families” (1:11). In 2:1-10, Paul addresses different groups within the household of faith, showing his concern for the public testimony of the church (2:5, 8, 10; see also 1 Tim 5:1–6:2). Paul then elaborates on the coming of Christ (Titus 2:11-14) before giving a direct charge to Titus (2:15).
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
