OET (OET-LV)waiting_for the blessed hope, and the_appearing of_the glory of_the great god and saviour of_us, Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa), chosen_one/messiah

uW Translation Notes:

προσδεχόμενοι

waiting_for

Alternate translation: “while we wait to welcome”

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / hendiadys

τὴν μακαρίαν ἐλπίδα, καὶ ἐπιφάνειαν τῆς δόξης

the blessed hope and /the/_appearing ˱of˲_the glory

These two phrases connected with and express a single event. The words blessed hope describe how Paul feels about the appearing of Jesus. If it would be helpful in your language, you could express this meaning with an equivalent phrase that does not use and. Alternate translation: “the blessing for which we hope, which is the appearing of the glory” or “what we are longing for, the blessed and glorious appearing”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

τὴν μακαρίαν ἐλπίδα, καὶ ἐπιφάνειαν τῆς δόξης

the blessed hope and /the/_appearing ˱of˲_the glory

If your language does not use abstract nouns for the ideas of hope and glory, you could express the same ideas in other ways. Alternate translation: “what we are longing for, the blessed and glorious appearing”

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / possession

τὴν μακαρίαν ἐλπίδα, καὶ ἐπιφάνειαν τῆς δόξης τοῦ μεγάλου Θεοῦ καὶ Σωτῆρος ἡμῶν, Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ

the blessed hope and /the/_appearing ˱of˲_the glory ˱of˲_the great God and Savior ˱of˲_us Jesus Christ

Here, Paul is using the possessive form to describe an event that is characterized by glory, which is when Jesus Christ will be appearing. If your language would not use the possessive form to express this, you could say it differently. Alternate translation: “the blessed event that we have been hoping for when our great God and Savior Jesus Christ gloriously appears”

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / hendiadys

τοῦ μεγάλου Θεοῦ καὶ Σωτῆρος ἡμῶν, Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ

˱of˲_the great God and Savior ˱of˲_us Jesus Christ

Both our great God and Savior refer to the one person, Jesus Christ. Alternate translation: “of Jesus Christ, our great God and Savior”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

2:13 we look forward: This implies hope as well as future accountability, both of which stimulate godly conduct in the present.
• will be revealed: This phrase translates a prominent Greek word in the letters to Timothy and Titus (“epiphany” or “appearing”; also 2:11; see study note on 1 Tim 6:14).
• great God and Savior: This is one of the few places in the New Testament where Jesus Christ is called “God” outright (see also John 1:1; 20:28; Rom 9:5; Heb 1:8; 2 Pet 1:1; possibly John 1:18). Yet this claim is entirely consistent with the roles and attributes of Christ and the worship that he receives. Possibly this designation is used here to insist that Christ is not a mere human promoted to membership in the pantheon of gods (see study note on Titus 1:12). At the time of this letter, Christians were insisting more and more that Christ alone, rather than rulers and emperors, should be called divine.
