Normally the OET discourages the reading of individual ‘verses’, but this view is only designed for doing comparisons of different translations. Click on any Bible version abbreviation down the left-hand side to see the verse in more of its context. I’m turning you to a no-account,
the runt of the godless nations, despised.
You thought you were so great,
perched high among the rocks, king of the mountain,
Thinking to yourself,
‘Nobody can get to me! Nobody can touch me!’
Think again. Even if, like an eagle,
you hang out on a high cliff-face,
Even if you build your nest in the stars,
I’ll bring you down to earth.”

1:2-4 I will cut you down: Several messages of judgment rehearse Edom’s specific sins against Israel (1:10-14; Jer 49:7-22; Ezek 25:12-14; 36:5;). Edom frequently appears among the nations that opposed Israel and the Lord (Isa 34; Ezek 35–36; Amos 9:1-15).
• down to size among the nations . . . your own pride: Edom’s rocky topography mimicked Edom’s pride. The height of the mountain fortress that provided their security only emphasizes the height from which Edom would fall. Edomite princes were among the arrogant rulers of the nations (Ezek 32:29; cp. Gen 36; 1 Chr 1:43-54).
Note 1 topic: writing-quotations
הִנֵּ֥ה קָטֹ֛ן נְתַתִּ֖יךָ
see/lo/see! small make,you
The addressee changes here. This is no longer Yahweh speaking to Judah or the messenger speaking to the other nations. Now Yahweh is speaking directly to the people of Edom. If it would be helpful in your language, you could add a quote introduction here, as in the UST.
הִנֵּ֥ה
see/lo/see!
This alerts the people of Edom to pay special attention to what follows. Use a natural way of getting someone’s attention in your language. Alternate translation: “Look” or “Pay attention to what I am about to tell you”
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / parallelism
קָטֹ֛ן נְתַתִּ֖יךָ בַּגּוֹיִ֑ם בָּז֥וּי אַתָּ֖ה מְאֹֽד
small make,you in/on/at/with,nations despised you(ms) very
These two phrases mean similar things and are used together to emphasize that Edom will lose its important status. If it would be more natural in your language, you could combine them as in the UST.
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
קָטֹ֛ן נְתַתִּ֖יךָ בַּגּוֹיִ֑ם
small make,you in/on/at/with,nations
Something insignificant is spoken of as if it were small in size and could easily be overlooked. Alternate translation: “insignificant among the nations”
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
בָּז֥וּי אַתָּ֖ה מְאֹֽד
despised you(ms) very
You could state this in the active form. Alternate translation: “the people of other nations will hate you”
