3 So Mosheh went and explained to the people everything that Yahweh had said, including all the regulations. Then all of the people answered in unison, “We’ll do everything that Yahweh has told us to do.” 4 So Mosheh wrote down everything that Yahweh had instructed. Then he got up early in the morning and built an altar at the bottom of the mountain and set up twelve stone pillars for the twelve tribes of Yisrael (Israel), 5 and he sent some young men to offer burnt offerings and to sacrifice some bulls as peace offerings to Yahweh. 6 Mosheh took half of the blood from the sacrifices and put it into basins. He sprinkled the other half of the blood onto the altar. 7 Then he took the scroll with the agreement written on it and read it out loud to the people, and they responded, “We’ll obey everything that Yahweh has instructed.”
8 Then Mosheh took the blood in the bowls and sprinkled it onto the people,[ref] telling them, “Look. This is the blood confirming the agreement[ref] that Yahweh has made with you according to what you just heard.”
14 Hold on to the things that you learnt and were convinced are true, because you know you can trust those who taught them to you. 15 You’ve known the sacred scriptures since you were a young child, and the wisdom contained in them is able to lead you to salvation through faith in Yeshua the messiah. 16 All scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for scolding and correction, and for teaching discipline and obedience 17 so that the person following God can be trained in doing every kind of good deed.
16 ⇔We didn’t follow cleverly crafted fables, but rather having been eyewitnesses of the majesty of our master Yeshua Messiah, we made his power and forthcoming return known to you. 17 Because he received the honour and glory from God the Father when a voice spoke to him with magnificent glory saying, “This is my son that I dearly love and who has pleased me greatly.”[ref] 18 Indeed we heard this voice from heaven ourselves as we had been taken with him to the holy mountain.
19 In addition there are the words of the prophets that were fulfilled which you would do well to pay attention to—like a light that shines in the dark places—until the day dawns and the one who is the morning star rises in your hearts. 20 And know this foundational truth: all of the prophecy in Scripture doesn’t just come from our own interpretations 21 or from the ideas of man, but from God speaking via men being guided by the Holy Spirit.
6 A voice says, ‘Call out!’ and I ask, ‘What should I call out?’
Say that all people are like grass—
all their ‘loyal commitment’ is as temporary as a flower in the countryside.[ref]
7 The grass dries up and the flower wilts
when Yahweh’s breath blows over it.
Surely humankind is like grass.
8 The grass dries up, the flower wilts,
but the decree from our god will stand forever.
17 “Don’t imagine that I came to criticise the prophets or Mosheh’s (Moses) instructions. I didn’t come to oppose the scriptures, but to fulfil them, 18 because I can assure you all that until heaven and earth reach their end, not one letter or mark will be taken away from those instructions until everything is fulfilled.[ref] 19 Therefore anyone who breaks even a minor command, and teaches others to do the same, will be seen as one of the least in the heavenly kingdom, but anyone who practices and teaches those instructions will be considered outstanding in the kingdom. 20 Let me tell all of you, unless you’re more godly than the religious teachers and the Farisaios, there’s no way that you’ll get to enter the heavenly kingdom.
14 I’ve passed on your teaching to them, and the world hated them because they don’t belong to this world, just as I don’t. 15 I’m not asking you to remove them out of this world, but rather to stop evil from overcoming them. 16 They don’t belong to this world just as I don’t. 17 Purify them with the truth—your message is that truth. 18 In the same way that you sent me out into this world, so I also send them out into the world. 19 I’m purifying myself for their sakes so that they also may be made pure by the truth.
25 “Oh, you’re so foolish,” he told them, “and your hearts are so reluctant to believe everything that the prophets wrote. 26 Didn’t the messiah need to suffer all of that in order to be able to enter into all his greatness?” 27 Then starting with Mosheh (Moses) and going through all the prophets, he explained the scriptures to them concerning what had been written about him there.
28 As they got close to the village they were going to, he seemed to be going on further 29 but they urged him, “Come and stay with us because it’s almost evening and there’s not much daylight left.” 30 Then when they were ready to eat, he picked up the bread and blessed it, and then he broke it and handed it out to them, 31 and then their eyes were opened and they recognised him. Just then he vanished, 32 and they said to each other, “Weren’t our hearts burning when he was speaking to us on the road and explaining the scriptures to us?”
36 But I have a stronger testimony than Yohan’s because the father has entrusted works to me to complete, and which I’m already doing and which clearly show that the father sent me here. 37 And since he sent me, he himself has testified about me.[ref] You people have never listened to his voice, nor have you ever seen him! 38 And his way of thinking is obviously not in your minds, because you don’t believe the one that he sent. 39 You look in the Jewish scriptures because you suppose that they’ll lead you to eternal life. Those very scriptures testify about me coming, 40 yet you refuse to come to me in order to receive life.
