Here, some refers to the “mockers” introduced in 3:3 and anyone else who believed that the Lord is slow to fulfill his promises, because Jesus had not yet returned. Peter is leaving out a word that this clause would need in many languages in order to be complete. This word can be supplied from the beginning of the verse.
