64.8 Qui conturbas profundum maris. Ecce qui per illos paratos fecit, conturbans ad pœnitentiam. Profundum maris, non superficiem, sed corda profundius mersa, vel corda principum. Hæc conturbata sunt, cum viderent et deos suos et spes suas ad nihilum venire. Sonum. AUG. Sonantes contradictione, fluctuantes persecutione, etc., usque ad dum istos plus diis suis valere cernunt.

64.8 Who conturbas profundum maris. Behold who through those paratos fecit, conturbans to pœnitentiam. Profundum maris, not/no superficiem, but corda profundius mersa, or corda of_the_princes. This conturbata are, when/with viderent and deos suos and spes their_own to nihilum venire. Sonum. AUG. Sonantes contradiction, fluctuantes persecutione, etc., until to dum istos plus diis to_his_own valere cernunt.

The writer speaks of God’s causing the evildoers’ plans to fail as if God were making them stumble in their paths. If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: “God will make them stumble” or “God will cause their plans to fail” (See also: figs-activepassive)
