OET (OET-RV) to that godliness add brotherly concern; and to the brotherly concern add selfless love.
Here is the basic message of this section: Christ has given Christians everything they need to live in a way that is good and that pleases him, so every Christian should try hard to become a strong and mature Christian. If they become that kind of Christian, it will be right and proper for God to allow them to enter heaven, Christ’s eternal kingdom.
and to godliness, brotherly kindness;
As well as living in a way which pleases God, you(plur) must also treat/love each other as you treat/love the members of your own families.
brotherly kindness: This is one word in Greek. It refers to how brothers and sisters of the same family love each other and show that they care about each other. Christians in Peter’s time used it also to refer to how Christians loved other Christians.
and to brotherly kindness, love.
And as well as treating/loving each other like members of your own families, you(plur) must also love all people.
love: The Greek word Peter used here means “love” for all people, not only for families and other Christians.

ἐν δὲ τῇ εὐσεβείᾳ τὴν φιλαδελφίαν
in in (Some words not found in SR-GNT: ἐν δέ τῇ εὐσεβείᾳ τήν φιλαδελφίαν ἐν δέ τῇ φιλαδελφίᾳ τήν ἀγάπην)
Peter is leaving out some of the words that a sentence would need in many languages in order to be complete. These words can be supplied from earlier in the sentence. Alternate translation: [and supply in godliness, brotherly affection]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
τὴν φιλαδελφίαν & τῇ φιλαδελφίᾳ
(Some words not found in SR-GNT: ἐν δέ τῇ εὐσεβείᾳ τήν φιλαδελφίαν ἐν δέ τῇ φιλαδελφίᾳ τήν ἀγάπην)
If it would be helpful in your language, you could express the idea behind the abstract noun brotherly affection with a verbal phrase. Alternate translation: [being concerned for your brothers and sisters … being concerned for your brothers and sisters]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / ellipsis
ἐν δὲ τῇ φιλαδελφίᾳ τὴν ἀγάπην
in in (Some words not found in SR-GNT: ἐν δέ τῇ εὐσεβείᾳ τήν φιλαδελφίαν ἐν δέ τῇ φιλαδελφίᾳ τήν ἀγάπην)
Peter is leaving out some of the words that a sentence would need in many languages in order to be complete. These words can be supplied from earlier in the sentence. Alternate translation: [and supply in brotherly affection, love]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
τὴν ἀγάπην
(Some words not found in SR-GNT: ἐν δέ τῇ εὐσεβείᾳ τήν φιλαδελφίαν ἐν δέ τῇ φιλαδελφίᾳ τήν ἀγάπην)
If it would be helpful in your language, you could express the idea behind the abstract noun love with a verbal phrase. Alternate translation: [loving others]
1:3-11 An explanation of all that God has given us in Christ (1:3-4) forms the basis for an urgent exhortation to grow in the knowledge of Christ (1:5-11).
OET (OET-RV) to that godliness add brotherly concern; and to the brotherly concern add selfless love.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
