the ˱of˲_the Lord ˱of˲_us Jesus Christ power and coming
In this clause Peter refers to the second coming of the Lord Jesus to earth. This future event was foreshadowed by the powerful appearance of Jesus known as the “transfiguration,” which is described in Matthew 17:1–8, Mark 9:1–8, and Luke 9:28–36. Peter was an eyewitness of that event.

Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
τῆς ἐκείνου μεγαλειότητος
˱of˲_the ˱of˲_that_‹one› greatness
If it would be helpful in your language, you could express the idea behind the abstract noun majesty with an adjective such as “majestic.” Alternate translation: [of his majestic nature]
1:16-21 Peter’s denunciation of the false teachers (ch 2) is framed by this teaching about the certainty of Jesus’ return (see also 3:1-13). The false teachers were probably denying the reality of Christ’s return and judgment. Peter’s eyewitness experience (1:16-18) and the intrinsic reliability of scriptural prophecy (1:19-21) make Christ’s return a certainty.
