The phrase And Naomi took the child does not mean that she took him away from Ruth in any hostile way. This probably indicates that Naomi held the child for a kind of ceremony of adoption.

וַ⁠תְּהִי־ל֖⁠וֹ לְ⁠אֹמֶֽנֶת

and=it_became to=him/it as,nurse

Alternate translation: “and she took care of him”
