ULTSo now, let us cut a covenant with our God to cause all the women to go out, and the ones who were born from them, by the counsel of my lord and the ones who tremble at the commandment of our God. And let it be done according to the law.

USTHere is what I suggest. We should do what God told us to do in his laws. We should make an agreement with our God that we will divorce our foreign wives and send them away with their children. BSBSo now let us make a covenant before our God to send away all the foreign wives and their children, according to the counsel of my lord and of those who tremble at the command of our God. Let it be done according to the Law.

TSNTyndale Study Notes:

10:3 A covenant is a binding agreement, in this case specifically to divorce . . . pagan wives that the people of Israel had inappropriately married. By taking this action, they would renew their commitment to the Sinai covenant.
• Women were generally given custody of their children when a marriage failed (cp. Hagar and Ishmael, Gen 21:14).

Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

Note 7 topic: figures-of-speech / infostructure

וְכַתּוֹרָ֖ה יֵעָשֶֽׂה
