(8-9) Don’t overlook the obvious here, friends. With God, one day is as good as a thousand years, a thousand years as a day. God isn’t late with his promise as some measure lateness. T4TDear friends, I want you to understand well that the Lord God is willing to wait a long time to judge the people in the world! How much time passes before the Lord God judges the people in the world does not matter to him! He considers that one day passes no more quickly than 1,000 years, and he also considers that 1,000 years pass as quickly as one day passes to us!

LEBNow, dear friends, do not let this one thing escape your notice, that one day with the Lord is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like one day.

BBEBut, my loved ones, keep in mind this one thing, that with the Lord one day is the same as a thousand years, and a thousand years are no more than one day.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

ἓν & τοῦτο μὴ λανθανέτω ὑμᾶς

one & this not /let_be/_escaping_notice you_all

Alternate translation: [do not fail to understand this one fact] or [do not ignore this one thing]

ὅτι μία ἡμέρα παρὰ Κυρίῳ ὡς χίλια ἔτη

that one day with /the/_Lord_‹is› like /a/_thousand years

Here, with the Lord means “in the judgment of the Lord.” Alternate translation: [that from the Lord’s point of view, one day is like a thousand years]

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / doublet

μία ἡμέρα παρὰ Κυρίῳ ὡς χίλια ἔτη, καὶ χίλια ἔτη ὡς ἡμέρα μία

one day with /the/_Lord_‹is› like /a/_thousand years and /a/_thousand years_‹are› like day one

These two phrases mean basically the same thing. The repetition is used to emphasize that God does not perceive of time the same way that humans do. What might seem to be a short or long time for people would not seem so for God. If it would be helpful in your language, you could combine these phrases. Alternate translation: [one day and 1,000 years are alike for the Lord]
