MSG (1-6)Your job is to speak out on the things that make for solid doctrine. Guide older men into lives of temperance, dignity, and wisdom, into healthy faith, love, and endurance. Guide older women into lives of reverence so they end up as neither gossips nor drunks, but models of goodness. By looking at them, the younger women will know how to love their husbands and children, be virtuous and pure, keep a good house, be good wives. We don’t want anyone looking down on God’s Message because of their behavior. Also, guide the young men to live disciplined lives.

2:1-15 Wholesome teaching was especially urgent on account of the false teachers, who had wreaked havoc on “whole families” (1:11). In 2:1-10, Paul addresses different groups within the household of faith, showing his concern for the public testimony of the church (2:5, 8, 10; see also 1 Tim 5:1–6:2). Paul then elaborates on the coming of Christ (Titus 2:11-14) before giving a direct charge to Titus (2:15).

Here, so that marks training the younger women as the goal or purpose of being “teachers of what is good” in verse 3. Of course, living in a good way, as verse 3 describes, helps the older women to be teachers of what is good. Use a connector in your language that makes it clear that what follows is the purpose.
φιλάνδρους
husband-loving
Alternate translation: “lovers of their own husbands”
φιλοτέκνους
children-loving
Alternate translation: “and lovers of their own children”
