2:18–3:21 Up to this point, the book of Joel has focused on God’s judgment upon Judah and Jerusalem, but from here on, it describes God’s promise of restoration. If the people sincerely repented, God would respond graciously.
2:18-27 God promised to restore his people’s material lives in the immediate future, replenishing their fields, orchards, vineyards, and flocks.

Then Yahweh was jealous for his land, and he had pity on his people
(Some words not found in UHB: and,jealous YHWH for,land,his and,had_pity on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in people,his )
Joel is using the past tense to describe something that is going to happen in the future, after the people repent. He may be doing this to show that the event will certainly happen. Alternatively, there may have been a gap of time between the writing of verse 17 and verse 18, and in that time, the people repented. If it would be clearer in your language, you could use the future tense in your translation of these two verses and express the emphasis in another way. Alternate translation: “Then Yahweh will be jealous for his land, and he will have pity on his people”
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
for his land
(Some words not found in UHB: and,jealous YHWH for,land,his and,had_pity on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in people,his )
Joel is using the term land by association to mean the people living on the land. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: “for his people”
