BrLXXΚαὶ μηδὲ τῆς ὀσμῆς αὐτοῦ δυνάμενος ἀνέχεσθαι, ταῦτʼ ἔφη, δίκαιον ὑποτάσσεσθαι τῷ Θεῷ, καὶ μὴ θνητὸν ὄντα ἰσόθεα φρονεῖν ὑπερηφανῶς.
   (Kai maʸde taʸs osmaʸs autou dunamenos aneⱪesthai, tautʼ efaʸ, dikaion hupotassesthai tōi Theōi, kai maʸ thnaʸton onta isothea fronein huperaʸfanōs. )

BrTrAnd when he himself could not abide his own smell, he said these words, It is meet to be subject unto God, and that a man that is mortal should not proudly think of himself, as if he were God.


WEBBEWhen he himself could not stand his own smell, he said these words: “It is right to be subject to God, and that one who is mortal should not think they are equal to God.”
